The following paper IDs have been conditionally accepted to SIGGRAPH Asia 2019: SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 Conditionally Accepted Emerging Technologies Entries
The Emerging Technologies program presents demonstrations of research from several fields, including displays, virtual and augmented reality, input devices, and robotics. Some of the accepted Emerging Technologies works will be recognized and awarded the "Emerging Technologies Prize" by the Emerging Technologies program committee members & attendees at the event venue.
At SIGGRAPH Asia we are looking for submissions that use novel interactive technologies which have possibilities to bring benefits, usefulness, or comfort, into our future lives.
These technologies may include, but are not limited to:
Feel free to submit your work even if it does not fall under the list of categories above. If it is new, cool, and exciting, we want to see it at SIGGRAPH Asia!
To encourage submissions from the industry, you can choose either "industrial" or "academic" with your submission. If your work mainly contributes to the progress of academic discipline in the field of interactive technologies, you should choose the “academic track”. On the other hand, if your work is a prototype of a new product which is (almost) on the market and expected to provide an impact to consumers, you should choose the “industrial track”. You can choose both categories if your work satisfies both features. Submissions in each category are reviewed individually according to their own evaluation criteria.
The main form of presentation at Emerging Technologies is a live, working, hands-on demonstration. It is essential that your work can be effectively demonstrated by the time the conference opens in November. To ensure this, the submission process requires all submitters to provide extensive technical, logistical, and practical documentation. Running an Emerging Technologies demo is hard work, but it is also very rewarding. Your work will be experienced by thousands of people and widely reported in media. We invite submissions from academic institutions as well as corporations and individuals. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by experts in relevant fields, and the final selections will be made by the Emerging Technologies program committee members.
Accepted Emerging Technologies works will be presented as on-going demonstrations throughout SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 in Brisbane, Australia. If your work is accepted, you will have the opportunity to give a technical presentation, advertised in the conference program. Media outreach efforts will be organized to further increase awareness and publicity. A promotional video will be widely distributed, and an extended abstract and video of each exhibit will be distributed through the ACM Digital Library for SIGGRAPH Asia. In addition, if you want to give an oral presentation about your work, you may do so during the Emerging Technologies Talks session at SIGGRAPH Asia.
Some of the accepted Emerging Technologies works will be chosen as "Emerging Technologies Prize" by the Emerging Technologies program committee members and reviewers at the event venue. The quality of work, how they are demonstrated onsite, and how attractive attendees view the works are criteria upon which each work will be judged.
The goal of Emerging Technologies is to gather and show the novel interactive technologies that could bring benefits, usefulness, or comfort, into our future lives.Take note: You will be responsible for your own shipping as well as any Audio Visual Equipment. An AV rental list will be provided to you upon acceptance.

SIGGRAPH Asia Emerging Technologies is a peer-reviewed demonstration. All submissions to the program will be reviewed by the program committee and external reviewers, which consists of industry, research, and academic professionals in the fields of graphics, computer-human interactions, display systems, computing, entertainment, design, systems engineering, interface devices, art, and related fields. Reviewing is single-blind, i.e., the names of the reviewers are hidden from the author. If your work is not accepted, that is not a reflection on its quality. Because of space limitations, we are able to accept only a limited number of pieces.
Submissions will be reviewed soon after the submission deadline. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent via email in 15 August 2019.
All contributors to SIGGRAPH Asia Annual Conferences are now required to use ACM's rights management system to grant rights to publish accepted content rather than through the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System. Essentially, submission tracking, jury review, and acceptance remain the same, but now the rights management is through ACM, the parent organization of SIGGRAPH Asia.
You will be asked to complete an ACM rights management form, which includes permission to record and distribute the audio and video of your recorded presentation through official channels of ACM/SIGGRAPH Asia. For most content types, this will be a Permission and Release form, which allows authors to retain copyright.

The main form of presentation in Emerging Technologies is a live demonstration, which will be available throughout the conference. You are responsible for ensuring that your demonstration is manned during all opening hours of the Emerging Technologies area. This is hard work, and over several days there will be thousands of people passing through your demonstration. Therefore, before submitting, make sure that you will have the resources to send sufficient staff to SIGGRAPH Asia. We recommend at minimum two people, but four or even more could be needed depending on the nature of your work. To facilitate this, SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 provides passes that allows access the Emerging Technologies demonstration area.
You will have the opportunity to give a short presentation, where you can explain your work in greater detail than it is possible in a demo situation. Details on this presentation will be included in the acceptance notification.
All accepted work will be documented in the SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 website and distributed through the ACM Digital Library.
We will work closely with you to insure proper and effective installation of your work. In general, accepted researchers are responsible for bringing or shipping their work to SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 in Brisbane, Australia. Contributors are also responsible for return shipping after the conference.
You are expected to bring sufficient personnel to staff the demo throughout the conference. SIGGRAPH Asia may be able to provide some student volunteer support.
If your work arrives at the conference center, and it is not as depicted in your submission or is not ready for demonstration, we reserve the right to exclude it from the Emerging Technologies exhibition.
Presenters / Contributors of each accepted submission have to register for at least one conference pass. Please visit our registration page to view the various registration categories for each program.
Please see the Recognition Benefits for a summary of what you will receive if your work and/or proposal are accepted by SIGGRAPH Asia.
Presenters are expected to cover their own travel costs, which are not covered by SIGGRAPH Asia. You can apply for a 100% discount via the submission system, one presenter per accepted submission. If additional contributors need to access the emerging technologies venue for presentation and set up purposes, they can request for experience passes that allows you to enter the Emerging Technologies area. Yes, if at all possible. Video documentation is highly recommended. Time-based documentation is the best way to illustrate how conference attendees will experience your project. We may also use the video in publicity for Emerging Technologies.
A work in progress may be submitted if it represents a large portion of the final version. However just a video prototype is not enough but a functional prototype should be needed before the deadline. Please explain in detail what additions will be made prior to the installation on the extended abstract. You will need to convince the reviewers that your work will be ready for demonstration in time for the conference.
If, due to bandwidth restrictions, you cannot upload a high-resolution image or supplemental movies, please instead upload a lower-resolution version. If we need to include a higher-resolution version for reviewers' review or publication stills, we will contact you to make arrangements.

Yes. But you are allowed to edit your online submission account until the deadline: 17 June 2019, 23:59 UTC/GMT.
Yes. For instance, you could submit a demonstration based on a paper published at a previous SIGGRAPH conference. Be sure to list these related submissions in your proposal and make clear how your Emerging Technologies proposal expands on and is different from these.
Some work might be relevant to multiple Programs (e.g. both Emerging Technologies and XR Showcase). For SIGGRAPH Asia 2019, we encourage you to submit the work to any Program that it could be accepted into. It will be reviewed separately by each Program. If it does get accepted to multiple Programs, that’s wonderful! We’ll be in touch with you shortly after the acceptance notifications go out in order to discuss which conference venue(s) will be most suitable for your presentation(s).
