Candidates will share three-minute oral presentations of innovative ideas live at a special session at SIGGRAPH ASIA 2019.
ACM SIGGRAPH ASIA is holding its Thesis Fast Forward program to provide more young presenters with a platform for sharing innovative ideas and gaining valuable exposure.
The key components of the submission will be 1) a three-minute video presentation by the candidate and 2) an abstract, explaining the central theme of their thesis. The intent is to make the presentation accessible to a non-expert audience, representative of the typical cross-section of SIGGRAPH ASIA conference attendees.
Based on the video submissions and provided abstracts, a jury will select candidates who will be asked to perform three-minute oral presentations live at a special session at SIGGRAPH ASIA 2019. A panel of experts will provide immediate commentary after each live presentation and select a best performance. The live presentations will be judged solely on the content of the live three-minute presentation.
All selected candidates will be awarded a full conference registration.
The core component of the submission is a 3 minutes video presentation. In this video, the applicants should summarize the key components of their thesis, its merit and potential impact. The video presentation should be picture-in-picture format where the presenter must be visibly narrating. The submission video should be provided via a web link (a link to a video on media sharing website such as YouTube is recommended to avoid encoding issues, but a direct URL to a video file is also acceptable).
The material to be submitted on the Submission Website should be a single PDF file, with the following two contents:
Submissions are due on: TITLE REGISTRATION: 14 September 2019, 23:59 UTC/GMT SUBMISSION: 7 October 2019, 23:59 UTC/GMT
All contributors to SIGGRAPH Asia Annual Conferences are now required to use ACM's rights management system to grant rights to publish accepted content rather than through the SIGGRAPH Asia Submission System. Essentially, submission tracking, jury review, and acceptance remain the same, but now the rights management is through ACM, the parent organization of SIGGRAPH Asia.
You will be asked to complete an ACM rights management form, which includes permission to record and distribute the audio and video of your recorded presentation through official channels of ACM/SIGGRAPH Asia. For most content types, this will be a Permission and Release form, which allows authors to retain copyright.
