Attendee FAQ

I am an attendee and presenter, are there any restrictions to what I can ship or bring into Brisbane, Australia?

Australia has strict customs and quarantine rules on good entering the country. These include items like electronics, battery-operated equipment, wood-based materials, chemicals, agriculture, produce, medication, etc, which may require permits to bring into Australia. Do take a moment to look through this list or contact SIGGRAPH Asia if you have any questions on items you might be shipping over for your presentations or displays.

I would like to pre-register for my conference/visitor pass, how can I make payment?

Please note that credit card (AMEX, VISA, MasterCard) is required for online payment.

Payment by Bank Transfer is only possible for group purchases of 10 passes or more, admin fee of USD 25 applies for every bank transfer transaction.

I have registered and made payment online. How do I collect my attendee badge?

Kindly proceed to the PRE-REGISTERED counters at Great Hall Registration Desk, Main Foyer at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC). Present the confirmation letter and scan the QR code above to collect your attendee badge. You may refer to the Registration Operational Hours in the table below.

I have registered online, can I make payment at the venue when I arrive?

All online registration payments must be completed before 28 September 2019; 23:59 (UTC/GMT+8) to enjoy the Early-Bird rates on conference passes and before 15 November 2019; 18:00 (UTC/GMT +8) to secure the regular online pre-registration rates.

Any payments made onsite, will adhere to the relevant onsite rates regardless of when you have registered/created your account.

To avoid the queues and the onsite rates, kindly log-in to the Registration Website using your Username and Password to complete your payment.

I did not make it in time to pre-register online for SIGGRAPH Asia 2019. Is it possible to register onsite?

Yes, it is possible.

Please proceed to the registration counters at Great Hall Registration Desk, Main Foyer to register and make payment. Please note that onsite registration rates will apply.

Only Australian Dollars (AUD) is accepted for Cash payments onsite. Credit card payments and online purchases will be in United States Dollars (USD).

I have registered for a Full Conference One-Day Pass, what programs am I entitled to attend?

A Full Conference One-Day Pass will have access to the SIGGRAPH Asia trade exhibition and all programs and events for ONE (1) DAY of the conference, including one (1) Electronic Theater ticket and one (1) Reception ticket. Thereafter the access changes to a Basic Conference Pass for the following days of the conference.

Can registrations be shared? If I cannot attend, can my colleague attend in my place?

All passes and tickets registered are non-transferable.

Do I need a visa to attend SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 in Australia?

All international attendees who wishes to enter Australia are required to obtain a visa. Applicants will be issued with a type of visa in accordance to his or her purpose of visit. For more information on the types of visas and general requirements for each, please visit the website of Department of Home Affairs of Australia.

How do I get from the airport to the venue?

The venue: Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC)

Both Brisbane domestic and international airports are 30min drive from the Centre and can be easily accessed by the AirTrain that connects South Brisbane station to Brisbane’s international and domestic airports with stops in the Brisbane CBD and Fortitude Valley.

The convenient alternative to reach BCEC is via the Train. South Brisbane Railway Station adjacent to the Convention Centre on Grey Street or South Bank Railway Station are the most convenient stations to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Is there parking available at the venue?

Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre provide undercover parking for up to 1500 vehicles. Car park has direct lift access to the Centre’s multiple convention floors and exhibition facilities.

Car park 1 is best for Merivale Street rooms, Car Park 2 & 3 are best for Exhibition Halls and Grey Street rooms via Russell Street Walkway.

Where are the exhibition and conference located?

All conference programs and the exhibition of SIGGRAPH Asia will be held at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Brisbane (Merivale St & Glenelg Street, South Brisbane QLD).

Registration is located at Merivale Street Level, Great Hall Registration Desk, Main Foyer.

What’s the weather like in Brisbane, Australia in November?

Blessed with the perfect subtropical climate all-year around and an average of eight hours of sun per day, Brisbane is the ideal destination for life in the great outdoors. It is Spring in November and the weather is generally between 17 to 28 degree Celsius.

I have heard that SIGGRAPH Asia provides multilingual audio guides about the works shown in the Art Gallery, Emerging Technologies, and XR Program. Where can I download them?

The podcasts are available in several languages (English, Bahasa, Korean, Mandarin and Japanese). They can be found under Audio Guides at the SIGGRAPH Conferences.

Is there translation support available for international attendees or contributors at SIGGRAPH Asia 2019?

Throughout SIGGRAPH Asia (17 – 20 November 2019), International Student Volunteers from various countries are available to help with basic translation questions, along with answering questions and problems that may arise for attendees. However, these individuals are not available to act as personal interpreters for any of the conference programs.

How can I find out if other people from my country or region are attending SIGGRAPH Asia 2019?

Prior to the conference, your local ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter may be able to help you. See the Chapters Directory to find out if there is a chapter in your local area.

In addition, if you pre-register online for SIGGRAPH Asia, you will be automatically included in our exclusive business matching program where you get to arrange meetings with potential partners/clients/employers before the event. With that, you will also be able to check if there are anyone attending from your country or region.

Will I be able to connect to the internet at the venue?

Wi-Fi is only provided to Conference delegates (Platinum Pass, Full Conference Pass, Full Conference One-Day Pass and Basic Conference Pass holders) during SIGGRAPH Asia 2019. However, wireless service will be available throughout Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC). Click here for more information.

Alternatively, users can access the various hot spots in parks and public spaces across Brisbane. To connect to the service, search your wireless networks and select 'Brisbane Free Wi-Fi' and read and accept the terms and conditions. A login is not required. Click here for more information.

Are food and beverages provided at the event?

Is there a Cloakroom at the venue?

Information desk located in Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) offers cloak room facilities for your luggage, bags, prams or coats. Information desks are located in the Grey Street & Merivale foyers.

What type of plug adapter and voltage is used in Australia?

Type I: mainly used in Australia, New Zealand, China, the South Pacific and Argentina. This socket only works with plug I.

In Australia the standard voltage is 230 V and the frequency is 50 Hz. You can use your electric appliances in Australia, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 220 - 240 V (as is in the UK, Europe, Australia and most of Asia and Africa).
